Deep Dish...

I am busy trying to get that damned mojo back. In the mean time, take a gander at the archives if you miss me :)

Come Away With Me...

It's that time of the year again! :)

I love this time of the year! :) Grey clouds, a view of lush green mountains and little water falls from the office balcony, unlimited ginger-lemongrass chai with hot samosas and pokoras, getting drenched in the rain with friends, and if I can, yes, even making paper boats and jumping in the puddles (this time the nephew will join too :)), driving on the expressway (the only time I feel like I am in Phoren), and then of course, watching the night, beautiful as it always is, become even more enchanting come rains, of sleeping snugly with the comforting pitter-patter sound of rain in your ears, of thunderstorms...somethings will be missed, like cuddling with your favourite person while watching the raindrops eventually become one...but others will remain same. Of just being indoors with no one but books for company. It's that time of the year again when I am the happiest :)

I must have posted Glosoli a couple of times on this blog, but I love it, and even more for the video:

"The Yellow Sundress"

This just made my birthday special. Thank you Divya! :)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To A, for her birthday, for 26 years of amazing existence and here is to more amazing moments in life! --Divya

"The Yellow Sundress"

I met her through a common saint
we both know very well,
too small for 24 then, and still tiny for 26 now,
she spoke of wild roses and scottish highlands
and her love for shoes and men.

She writes the way she speaks
of imprinted emotions, engraved gestures,
strange ways of love and lovers,
the joy of flight, the struggle of fight
the chime of beautiful little dreams,
what I read was familiar,
what I felt was similar.

Is it possible that we might have
shared a common existence in
the yesteryears of fate and destiny?
Perhaps, tucked away in history’s archives,
we were friends, sisters, daughters or
deadly sins from the Holy Testament?

Our tales and battles
of heartbreak and struggles
of longing, lingering ambitions
Vulnerable children of heaven
Both strong, determined and women
of this century of modernity.

We’ve clashed like armies
in the battlefield of perspectives
yet I feel and I know you are the
sweetest product of serendipity
and if all words fail to describe
your essence and presence
in this world of utter chaos,

Your portrait in the museum of living will
be that of adorned tresses,
with lilies from the valley, a sweet scent
of frangipani emanating from the
nape of your neck, and I see you
immersed in your favourite book,
lost in the warmth of a cup of tea
and the stunning, brilliant vision of
sun rays entering your heart of hearts
and the whole wide world celebrating-You.

For what you are and for what you will be.
And watching you- smile, radiantly,
with the the crown of joy
firmly on your head- in
what only you can wear best
- the yellow sundress.

Smile!

Oh what a beautiful beautiful story!

The power of a compliment. So often we forget. A genuine "thank you" and "you look so nice today" and a smile? What power it holds! What a huge huge difference it can make to a person's life. We all need a little validation from time to time. That we are good, we are beautiful, that we are helping make someone's life better. Tell someone something nice today. Smile at someone. Make someone feel beautiful today.

And start with the people around you. Maybe your parents, your friends, your partner, your colleagues. Maybe even yourself.

The Magic Carpet...

(If the embedding does not work, go here for the song-->Happy by Sidd Coutto)

Look outside the window. Close your eyes. Let the sunlight fall on your face. You're on a beautiful beach. You're wearing your favourite dress or shirt. You're having a good hair day too. There's breeze, the sea looks happy, the waves say a warm hello. The sky's blue with white fluffy clouds. You are surrounded by all your friends...friends you haven't seen in ages...friends you had forgotten...friends that have drifted apart. Everyone's in a playful mood. Everyone's happy and dancing and singing happy. There's no worry only smiles. Someone pulls you out from the cane chair and you do a little happy jig. There's laughter. There's white sand under your feet, sea shells, your favorite drink in your hand and your sunglasses to make you feel glamorous (though you don't really need those, you feel on top of the world anyway). The air is fragrant...with freedom and laughter and smiles (and tiger prawns).

You look around and you feel...life, as it should be. Happy.
